We've just finished our first Cases & Clues mystery and are feeling quite unfulfilled by the ending. We feel like we needed answers to the following to feel a sense of satisfaction:

  1. Why did Jake bother lying about playing volleyball? What was he doing instead?
  2. What was the ghost boat?
  3. How did Rosie end up at the cove? Are we supposed to believe Jake chloroformed her when she was on her way to the cove, put her on the rental boat, she somehow ended up in the sea and the he dumped her on the beach?
  4. Why would he care about her smart ring being found on her? Her having a ring from him isn't suspicious; if he was going to take it why bother having the engraving removed?

Please help, despite having guessed the correct killer we still don't understand what happened!

Many thanks

Hi Alexander, thank you for the response!

Why did Jake need an alibi for the afternoon? He says he got back on the boat to return it anyway?

How do we know it was Rafe's boat and not the one he said he hired with a group of people?

If Rosie's body washed up on the shore, why were there footprints on the beach - the scene report says it looked like someone carried her?

Thanks again!

Hi Megan,

Jake lied about playing Volleyball to give himself an alibi when he was really still on the boat.

The boat belonged to Rafa, who used that boat for drug smuggling.

Rosie's body washed up at the cove after Jake had killed her on the boat.

Rosie's smart ring contains data about her vitals and possibly her movements, which would have made it easier to solve the case. Taking it and removing the engraving would have made it useless as a piece of evidence.
